Please note: Cole's Rowleys Bay CABINS is NOT affiliated with Rowley's Bay Resort in any way, but is privately owned by Mary and Don Cole.
We met with the delightful owners, Mary and Don Cole, and toured the property, which sits right across the road from an inlet (Rowleys Bay) of Lake Michigan. Mary and Don live right on the site, so they are always close at hand. You can choose between two different cabins, or an upstairs suite.
There is a history to this place as well, and Don knows a lot of the stories and folklore about the area. So when you are there, spend some time and ask him to tell you some of his favorites! You can walk down to the shore area across the road, as Mary and Don also own a piece of the shore there. Ask about it! About an 8 minute ride to Sister Bay down Hwy ZZ, you are close enough to shops, restaurants, parks, golf and more!
The Cabins
There are two well-appointed, spotless cabins available, the Duck Blind, and the Fishing Hole. There is a lot of space between the 2 cabins, and there is a fire pit in front of each, and charcoal grills as well. Linens are provided. Both are set up for satellite TV too!
The Duck Blind
This is a delightful 3 bedroom cabin. The main room has plenty of sitting space – there is a sleeper sofa and an additional plaid sofa in the room, as well as a pot-belly style fireplace, table and chairs. The room is full of tastefully done accessories that fulfill the “duck” theme: from ducks in flight on the walls, to a shelf which runs the length of the room, just loaded with duck decoys and other related items. Fully carpeting, you get a country feeling in the Duck Blind, as the pine board ceiling, and country accents fill your senses with tranquility. The surrounds just ooze peacefulness.
The first bedroom sports a queen size bed, pine board ceiling, and country touches like an old crate for a nightstand. In the second bedroom, you will find a double bed, rough wood accent walls, dresser and more - rustic and cozy. The third bedroom, with wooden walls decorated with old license plates, has a double bed with a blue metal frame. All the bedrooms re very nice, and the cabin can really accommodate 8 people – this is really a nice get-away.
The kitchen is complete with electric range, refrigerator, microwave and plenty of cabinets. There is a deck on the front of the cabin too, for relaxing. All in all, this is really a nice retreat!
The Fishing Hole
The Fishing Hole is a two-bedroom, woodsy cottage, with lots of pine board, and plenty of related accents like fish artwork and artifacts throughout. Tucked away towards the back of the property, the Fishing Hole is surrounded by trees on three sides, and provides a water view from the main living room area, and from the deck in front of the cottage. Fully carpeted in all rooms but the kitchen and bath, the Fishing Hole is just waiting for your arrival! This cottage sleeps 4 in the bedrooms, but can accommodate 6 with the queen size sleeper sofa.
Bright and airy, this is another great escape!
The Lighthouse Suite
Upstairs from the main building is The Lighthouse Suite. This light-house-keeping unit (pun intended!), is a wonderful hide-away. One large room houses the living room area with sofa sleeper, a couple of coordinating easy chairs, queen bed done up in a nautical theme, antique dresser, TV, and mini-fridge and microwave. Again, knotty pine ceilings and wainscoting gives the place a soft, cozy feeling.
Many nice touches abound again (Mary and Don obviously have a talent for this!). From nautical artwork on the walls, to lighthouse lamps, you feel comfortable and at home here. We liked this suite a whole lot!
With a private stairway entrance, and deck outside the room, you can get a nice view of the bay, sit, read, relax, enjoy. Air conditioned (or heated), all linens supplied – all you have to do is book it and show up! This is set up for 2 people, but with the sleeper sofa, it can accommodate up to 4 in the same large room.
General
You can enjoy hiking, fishing, biking and nature here. Rowleys Bay itself is very small, but a cozy retreat nestled on the bay and in the birches, cedars and pines. Again, easy access to Sister Bay down Hwy ZZ makes Door County’s second largest town easily accessible with all it has to offer.
Mary and Don have done a wonderful job with Cole’s Rowleys Bay Cabins! Please visit their web page for more information and photos of the cabins and Lighthouse Suite - and please tell Don and Mary you found them on DoorCountyNavigator.com! Please refer to Property ID # DCN-1081.
