Our "Lighthouse suite" is a 20 x 26' bedroom/sitting room combination. It is perfect for 2 people, but could accommodate up to 4. It has its own private outside stairway which leads to a spacious deck with a view of Rowleys Bay. The inside of the suite is very roomy and decorated with a nautical, lighthouse theme. There are skylights in the knotty pine ceiling, air conditioning, elec heat, dorm size frig, microwave, coffee maker, sofa sleeper, shower in bathroom. All linens are provided for bed and bath.

Our "Fishing Hole" cottage is a two bedroom, quaint "little house in the woods" with all the modern conveniences of home. It is absolutely adorable and cheerful and very comfortable. It is decorated mainly with fish carvings, fishing artwork, duck and goose decoys, and other fishing and hunting related artifacts. The building is situated in the back corner of our property and nestled in among the birch, pine and cedar trees. There is a great water view from the inside of the main living area of the cottage and from the large front deck and front yard. It also has knotty pine ceilings and wainscot, carpeted except for kitchen and bath, a decorative gas fireplace, gas furnace, 150 channels of satellite TV, fully equipped kitchen, full bath, and a queen sofa sleeper in the living room. All linens are provided in bed, bath and kitchen. A charcoal grill is provided and there are great walking trails behind the cottage that go to Sand Bay Beach. This cottage is set up perfectly for four people, but can hold up to 6.

The "Duck Blind" cottage has three bedrooms and is perfect for 6 people, but can accommodate up to 8. It is decorated with a country theme and accentuates Don's duck decoys and related hunting items and artwork. It also has knotty pine interior, 150 channels of satellite TV, gas fireplace, sleeper sofa, full bath, kitchen equipped with everything you need, dining room table, and gas furnace. The front deck has a great water view. There is also a charcoal grill and a campfire pit in the front yard.

We encourage our guests to enjoy fishing, hiking, swimming, biking or just observing nature from this waterview setting on the peaceful, quiet side of the Door Peninsula. There are several beaches close by. Also golf courses, amusement park, restaurants, art galleries, pottery shops, antique shops, Christmas shops, community auditorium, and State Parks.

Don's parents bought our historic old house in 1953 as a summer getaway. Don can tell you a lot about the history of the area when you are visiting. For instance, old timers used to tell him about previous owners who traded bread to the Indians for fresh fish. They also told him about a logging tug called "Laughing Waters" which sunk right in front of our house. The tug had been used to haul logs from the Mink River to the old sawmill, which had been located in front of our house. Guests enjoy campfires along the shore and talking about what it must have been like to have lived here a hundred years ago. On calm nights one can almost hear the ghost voices of the duck hunting couple, who used to live in our house, who drowned in the Lake Michigan waters in the 1949. Don's parents bought this house from their relatives in 1953.

At one time Rowleys Bay had its own sawmill, post office, and doctor's office. There was also a school. Imagine the school bell ringing and laughing children as you walk the roadsides in Rowleys Bay. Watch for deer and fox and sandhill cranes. Listen to the frogs croaking, fish splashing, ducks quacking, and geese honking. You may see raccoons, possums, beaver, swans, cormerants and seagulls. You might want to ask Don about the Copper Culture Indian skeleton that he found when he was a boy. It wasn't far from our house and was dated to be about 2,000 years old...
