FAIRFIELD WINTER ART EXHIBIT – STURGEON BAY
Dates of event: 11/2/2007 - 3/16/08
At Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art.
From November 2 through March 16 in the first-floor Arthur Light Gallery, the Fairfield will exhibit rotating works from its permanent collection, which is centered on the work of Henry Moore. In addition to Moore, who Newsweek called “the sculptor of the (20th) century,” the collection also includes the work of other important modern artists, such as Wassily Kandinsky, Alberto Giacometti and Renee Magritte. FREE, DAILY DOCENT-LED TOURS – STURGEON BAY
Dates of event: 11/7/2007 - 3/16/08
At Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art.  Starting on Wednesday, November 7th, the art center will offer free, daily, docent-led tours of its exhibitions starting at 1:30pm. The free, daily tours will run through March 16, 2008. Curator-led tours will be available to school groups. The tours will give museum visitors an intimate opportunity to learn more about signature artist Henry Moore and the museum’s world-class permanent collection, as well as the rotating exhibitions in the b2 gallery. 920-746-0001.

THE SATURDAY SALON – STURGEON BAY
Location: Fairfield Center for Contemporary Art
Dates of event: 1/5/08 To 3/29/08
The Saturday Salon: Sketching and Painting in the Galleries. Every Saturday afternoon from January 5 through March 29th, the Fairfield will welcome local artists at every level - student, amateur and professional - for an afternoon of drawing and painting in the galleries. LECTURE: EVOLUTION VS. CREATIONISM IN AMERICAN LIFE – FISH CREEK

FIRESIDE COFFEEHOUSE CONCERT: JEANNE KUHNS

At the Door Community Auditorium - 7PM. Weaving mystical lyrics and intriguing musical patterns, singer/songwriter Jeanne Kuhns’ music is a mix of bluesy progressive folk. Drawing from her dreams, Jeanne’s original songs reflect her passion for relationships, the earth, and the “magical moments we experience every day.” Jeanne is currently recording her third album “Ghost Ranch.” Tickets: $14. 21st  ANNUAL FISH CREEK WINTER FESTIVAL - FISH CREEK
Dates of events: 2/08/09 – 2/10/08
Fish Creek will host a weekend of fun and frivolity. Winter Fest activities will feature something to delight every age. From spitting a cherry pit to sampling chili or an evening of rock & roll, the weekend’s activities will include food, music and games. Kites Over the Bay will paint the sky with a rainbow of color, Peninsula Art School will serve up homemade soup in handcrafted pottery bowls, the Door Community Auditorium will host the 4th Annual Door County Idol.  Call 920-868-2728  

We have attended several times,  and with children!  This is a fun event with lots for the kids.   Most recently, this event takes place in Clark Park, along the water  front with a big tent  But look for local last minute directions that will be available  all over town.  It used to be out on the ice in the harbor. This is a fun Winter event, with lots of good eating and fun events – check for specific details this year.

LIONS CLUB ANNUAL FISH DERBY ON WASHINGTON ISLAND

A week long fishing competition offering prizes for the top catches to those who take on the challenges of the frozen waters of Lake Michigan. DOOR COUNTY IDOL CONTEST – FISH CREEK

Competing for the title of Door County Idol, some of the peninsula’s most talented young singers between the ages of 15-19 will perform for a panel of three judges. The audience will actively participate in voting for the Idol’s winning contestant. Tickets, $8 adults, $5 students. 920-868-2728.

The hopes, dreams, joys and concerns of the average working American are the focus of this unique, extraordinary musical. THE CLAREMONT TRIO IN CONCERT – STURGEON BAY

At the United Methodist Church (836 Michigan Ave.) . 7:30 PM, doors open at 6:45 PM. Classical trio featuring twin sisters Emily and Julia Bruskin on violin and cello and Donna Kwong on piano. Three beautiful and talented young ladies created this trio in 1999 when all three were students at Juilliard School of Music. They won the prestigious Young Concert Artists Competition in 2001 and the first Kalichstein/Laredo/Robinson International Trio Award in 2003, leading to a major 20 city tour of the US.
