DOOR COUNTY FESTIVAL OF BLOSSOMS
Dates of event: 5/01/08 to 5/31/08
Annual, month-long celebration of Spring framed by more than 300 miles of shoreline!   Enjoy guided and self-guided tours among thousands of acres of blossoming cherry and apple orchards (beautiful!), wonderful flowers like daffodils and tulips, and countless wildflowers. County-wide lighthouse walk, boat, trolley and scenic air tours and community celebrations with arts and crafts, food and music. For information: 1-800-52-RELAX
The festival of blossoms is fun throughout May – it’s just nice to see Spring really back, flowers in bloom, and everyone readying for another super – season in Door County.  Don’t expect a ton of hoopla, but there is natural beauty to enjoy!  Nice quiet times too.

SHIPYARD TOURS – STURGEON BAY
Date of event: 05/03/08
Tour boat shipping facilities in Sturgeon Bay from 9AM – 2PM. Tour and view the current projects of 3 shipyards that continue to flourish in the 21st century, including Palmer Johnson, Bay Ship, and Great Lakes Yacht Services.  Tickets can be purchased at the entry gates of the shipyards on the day of the event.  For info, call: 920-746-8460.

PROGRESSIVE DINNER OUTING
Date of event: 05/03/08 Pick up at 5PM at Orchard Country Winery (1/2 mile south of Fish Creek on Hwy 42.)
Trolley guests will experience unique stops for hors d’oeuvres/cocktails at a surprise location, an elegant dinner at The Inn at Kristofer’s, and a decadent dessert at a romantic inn. Selected Saturdays only in January through May. $70 per person. Call 920-868-1100 for details/reservations. DOOR COUNTY HALF

MARATHON – FISH CREEK
Date of event: 05/03/08
In Peninsula State Park, race starts at 10AM on a paved surface within the Peninsula State Park. All finishers receive a t-shirt, finisher’s medal as well as food and drink at the finish line. Awards will be presented to the top male and female runners, top male and female master runners and top three finishers in each age group. NICOLET BAY 5K FUN RUN/WALK – FISH CREEK
Date of event: 05/03/08
In Peninsula State Park, race begins at 10:30am, near the beach. Participants will follow the out and back course along the water on Shore Rd. going around the bay past Welcker’s Point, Eagle Bluff Lighthouse to Bluff Rd. and back. Walkers are welcome to participate in the 5K. All finishers will receive a t-shirt and food and drink at the finish line. Awards for the top 4 male and female finishers, and door prizes will be given out. SISTER BAY FESTIVAL OF BLOSSOMS – SISTER BAY

In Downtown Sister Bay. Taste of Sister Bay, flower box prizes, maypole raising, Irish dancers, children’s parade, face painting, community-wide garage sale, bonfire, live entertainment. 920-854-2812.

15TH ANNUAL BLOSSOM RUN – EGG HARBOR
Date of event: 05/10/08
Fun run held at the boat launch park in Egg Harbor. All ages encouraged to participate. 2 & 5 mile walk/run and 1 mile youth run. Pre-registration from 7- 8 AM on the day of the race. Race begins at 8:30 AM. Call 920-743-4949 for more info.

Shows at the Ephraim Village Hall. Isadoora Theatre Company presents “The Cover of Life” by R.T. Robinson. In 1943, three brothers are off to war and Life Magazine picks up the down-home story about their young wives. Filled with charm and fun, this deeply affecting, timeless story follows the lives of six women thrown together by war and their struggle for self-worth. Time: 7:30 PM Thurs-Sat, 2:30 PM Sunday. 18th ANNUAL OPEN BASS TOURNAMENT - STURGEON BAY

KEEPER’S KINDOOR COUNTY MARITIME MUSEUM – STURGEON BAY

Enjoy a dessert social with relatives of lighthouse keepers and learn more about the history of Door County's lighthouses through an in-depth presentation by Steve Karges. Steve is the author of Keepers of the Light, an in-depth look at Door County's lights. Keepers' Kin will be taking place at Crossroads at Big Creek. DOOR COUNTY SCOTTIE RALLY – Baileys Harbor

You like Scottish Terriers?  You’ll love this event.  This is the 8th Annual Door County Scottie Rally, with a Parade of about 150 Scotties, bagpipers and drums – starting around 11:30 AM!  And a silent auction.  Viewing will be at the Town Hall.   For additional info and registration details, call 920-839-2982 or www.doorcountyscottierally.com.

SPRING ARTS & CRAFTS SHOW – BAILEYS HARBOR

This is a fun event on a nice sunny day.  We have been to it often, and there are dozens of booths set up with arts and crafts galore!  You can spend the day strolling and looking at wonderful woodcrafts, metal, one-of-a-kind jewelry, quilts, Christmas treasures like tree-skirts, ornaments and a whole lot more.  Stay for dinner at The Sandpiper – we spoke with the owner and he claims the best fish boil in the county!

SESQUICENTENNIAL CELEBRATION – WASHINGTON ISLAND
Date of event: 5/17/08
At the Pottawatomie Lighthouse - Rock Island.
A celebration will take place on the light house grounds beginning at 1 PM. Julian Hagen will provide music, lighthouse cake and milk will be served, and several dignitaries will give brief speeches marking the occasion. That evening a banquet will be held at Karly’s on Washington Island. Space is limited to the first 120. Tickets are $25 for dinner and door prizes. An original painting by Audrey M. Off and a beautiful quilt will be raffled off (tickets $5, or 5 for $20).
Tickets for the banquet and raffle can be purchased from Friends of Rock Island, 126 Country Club Drive, Clintonville, Wi. 54929. Proceeds go toward continued maintenance work on Pottawatomie Lighthouse.

15th ANNUAL DOOR COUNTY LIGHTHOUSE WALK
Dates of Event: 5/17/08 - 5/18/08
This is a self-guided, tour of 6 mainland lighthouses. You can walk around the grounds and get a great view of some of Door County’s wonderful lighthouses. You can also opt for a Boat Tour to and around island lighthouses. For tickets and info: 920-743-5958 or www.dcmm.org.
The lighthouses in Door County are magnificent to see, especially Cana Island (one of the most photographed features of Door County) and Eagle Bluff (in Peninsula State Park).  You can try to tour the lighthouses on your own, or there are organized excursions, even by boat, to take in many of these beautiful lighthouses that helped guide many a ship through tough and rough waters.  Even if you miss this weekend, be sure to schedule some time to visit a few of Door County’s best if you have an interest in these fascinating structures.  They are super to photograph too, so don’t forget your camera! 

14th ANNUAL SHEPHERD'S MARKET - STURGEON BAY
Dates of event: 05/17/08 to 05/18/08
At the Whitefish Bay Farms, 3831 Clark Lake Rd, (County WD) - near Jacksonport.  This is Northeastern Wisconsin’s oldest fiber event.  Saturday-May 17th from 10 AM – 4 PM, and Sunday-May 18th from 10 AM – 3 PM.  Call 920-743-1560 for more details.

36th ANNUAL JACKSONPORT MAIFEST - Jacksonport
Dates of Event: 5/24/08 - 5/25/08

“FRESHWATER FURY” – MARITIME MUSEUM – STURGEON BAY
Date of Event: 5/24/08
A major new exhibit following the enormous success of "Pirates!" will open to the public.  "Freshwater Fury" will shed light on the 1913 storm, which was the most destructive storm the Great Lakes have ever experienced, by taking a day by day approach to how the storm developed and unleashed its fury on all five Lakes.  Additionally, we will explore the meteorology of storms, how mariners are dealing with storms today, and lastly the impact of the 1913 storm inland.  As part of this exhibit, we will include a number of interactive components to further engage visitors of all ages!

10TH ANNUAL FINE ART FAIR – SUNSET PARK – STURGEON BAY
Dates of Event: 5/24/08 – 5/25/08

2nd ANNUAL BIRDING FESTIVAL - BIRDING DEATH’S DOOR – WASHINGTON and ROCK ISLAND
