Some
of the best in Door County Lodging, Resorts and Hotels!
Over the past 3+ years, we have reviewed so many B&Bs and
inns in Door County and have written up reviews to help you decide
which places best meet your needs.
Over the last year or so, we have focused on searching out and
reviewing some of the many resorts in Door County, and we have
discovered, as you will, that these are some of the finest resorts
in the Midwest!
These beautiful resorts have established a wonderful niche that
blends multiple activities and wide choice of accommodations,
with charm, warmth, and just plain fun, for couples, friends and
families. You can even find resort rooms that are so country-chic
that you’d think you were in a B&B!
Our users have been requesting more resort coverage, and so we
added a Resorts listings section at the Inns and Places To Stay page, and continue to seek out and
review more and more resorts for you! What we have found has been
both inspiring and exciting, so we’ll keep bringing you
our first-hand experience so that you can “Navigate Your
Way to the Best!”
Whether you are traveling with a family, with kids or with a group,
or if you are looking for exciting activities, a relaxing atmosphere,
a conference center for a business meeting or family reunion,
you can now find it all in Door County’s rich and wide assortment
of resorts, with well-appointed and decorated rooms and plenty
to offer. And some of the resorts have rooms that are accessible
to people with handicaps,ú so please check ahead, of course,
but keep this in mind too while planning your trip.
Amenities like indoor and outdoor pools, waterfront locations,
golf, bicycles, row boats or canoes, tennis courts, restaurants
right on the grounds and a whole lot more bring a variety of opportunity
to families and couples alike, as well as businesses planning
retreats. There really is so much to choose from now in Door County,
with great resorts virtually in every town!
Sturgeon Bay
For so long, most people heading to Door County would by-pass
Sturgeon Bay to get to the “real” Door County. Not
so anymore! Long overlooked, Sturgeon Bay has seen a wonderful
resurgence over the past 10 years or so. We love the restoration
of 3rd Avenue in Downtown Sturgeon Bay; we love the beautiful
B&Bs in Sturgeon Bay; and we love the many new waterfront
resorts we have discovered in Sturgeon Bay! And there are some
super restaurants, harbors, festivals and more too! Great art
galleries like AMO Gallery and Framery, cafes like Kick Coffee
on Third Avenue, shops like the Dancing Bear. Great home made
fudge and gourmet popcorns at the Copper Kettle – wow! This
trip, think about staying in the Bay - Sturgeon Bay!
Bridgeport
Waterfront Resort, Bay
Shore Inn, Glidden
Lodge Beach Resort, and Westwood
Shores Waterfront Resort are wonderful examples of
relatively new resorts that have been done in a first-class tradition.
You can read our reviews at our Review/Places to Stay section.
For
example, for The Glidden
Lodge Beach Resort in Sturgeon Bay, several words come to
mind: Location! Location! Location! The Glidden Lodge Beach Resort
is located on Door County’s "quiet side," and
is so appealing because of the seclusion and beauty of its setting.
The grounds are beautifully landscaped and meticulously kept.
The new one, two and three bedroom suites all have an Eastern
exposure that captures the sunrise over the lake on what is known
as Whitefish Bay. This is a wonderful place, with a great staff
in a unique location! Sunrises, beaches, beautiful and spacious
facilities and more! Check out Glidden
Lodge Beach Resort in Sturgeon Bay - right on the
