For an interesting and refreshing experience, a trip to the Paint Box Gallery near the Red Barn Shops in Ephraim is the place to stop. Among other work by various artists, you will see work by a young local lad that is unique. We met this artist, Aaron Bacigalupo, while we waited for our table at the Parkway Supper Club in Fish Creek. Aaron is a bartender there. He's lived in Door County most of his life, and has just returned home after living briefly in St. Croix in the Virgin Islands. He mentioned it was a great experience, but there's no place like home! We learned of his talent as we chatted at the bar. He is an artist in his "real-life" a sculptor to be more specific. He uses dental tools to create miniatures.

We went to the gallery the next day to see his work. He only had two pieces on display when we were at the shop - all the other pieces had already been sold! We saw an interesting chess game with dragon-like pieces, and a scene entitled "Ladies at Lunch" that he created. He's been commissioned to sculpt families, homes, pets, and just about anything you could ask for. I wish we could have seen more of his work. He is a gifted artist. Each piece he does is different and requires a great deal of time. His work is not only very intricate, but it's very personal because we doubt any two pieces come out the same. By the way, Aaron told us his dad owns the gallery. He's an artist too!

The Paint Box Gallery features the original works of all its artists. So for something very different, stop by and visit the shop - you will like what you see!
