Looking for a cozy one-bedroom cottage in a quiet area of Egg Harbor, not far from one of the best golf courses on the Peninsula?  Then definitely check out Applewood Cottage, situated on Applewood Farm (in between Egg harbor and Fish Creek).  And it’s pet friendly too!

We toured the cottage, whose exterior is all cedar shake, and whose interior is wood paneled walls.  Enter into the living room, with a small galley-type kitchen to your left.  The kitchen is beyond fully equipped with not only the standard appliances, but a cock pot, a smoothie maker, hot chocolate maker, waffle maker, blender and all the pots and pans you can need.  In fact, when we toured the place with the owner, she said that she likes to add little touches like having olive oil, salt and pepper and even pet snacks available!  How nice is that?!  There‘s a nice eating counter too.  The entire place is carpeted.

A peaked ceiling, with pine beams, makes the living room warm and cozy.  A ceiling fan, queen sleeper sofa, very comfortable wicker rocker, love seat, a cushy chair with hassock and a Ben Franklin-type wood burning stove complete the homey feel of the living room.

The dining room sports an oak table with 4 matching chairs, a wrought iron book rack loaded with books, including some Door County information books, videos and more.  Off the dining room is a game closet with a variety of board games, beach chairs, beach canopy and other fun items – you are ready to have fun indoors or outdoors!  Off the other side of the dining room are sliding glass doors that open out to a pergola porch, with Adirondack chairs and a window flower box.  The porch wraps around to the right to the main entrance. 

The bedroom has a queen bed with brass headboard, a down comforter and a side table with mission-style lamp.  The closet contains extra high quality sheets, towels and blankets – they thought of everything.  This room has the famous “Heavenly Bed ™” you have read about – a delight!

The bathroom is small, with a stand-up shower and wood paneling.  Nice touches you will find include Q-tips, cotton balls, shampoo and even body wash.

General

You will find the cottage to be clean and comfortable, in a very quiet and peaceful surround, lots of landscaping, flowers, and outdoor fire pit with chairs, picnic table and grill, and 10 acres of walking trails for the guests to use.  There’s an apple tree right outside the cottage, and in season, you can even pick some.  And the cottage is equipped with phone and high-speed internet access (WiFi) too!  Also, there is Direct TV, a VCR, DVD and CD Player too for your enjoyment.

Please note that on their website, it says Fish Creek – which is their mailing address!  So don’t get confused!  It’s in beautiful Egg Harbor!

Open year-round, this is an escape ideally for 2 people.  Parents with a child or two can be accommodated too, with the sleeper sofa, but this is not a place for 2 adult couples – not enough room.   

And, if this looks good to you, and you have a pet, you are welcomed here too.  There is a 3 night minimum stay, and some peak season times might require a week’s stay.  Always check with the Applewood Cottage owner to make sure, and please tell them that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you!
