Clark Lake Waterfront Cottages offer a perfect spot to enjoy some of Door County’s favorite activities! Located just minute’s form two of the county’s most popular parks, these cottages offer a wonderful lakeside location in a very relaxed environment that’s sure to be fun for the whole family.

Whitefish Bay Dunes State Park is just two miles away on Lake Michigan. You can walk, jog, bike or hop in the car and it’s just a short drive to the park’s entrance. The scenery is beautiful along the way and the park itself is a must-see. Perfect for hiking and exploring, the park features beautiful sand dunes and a sand shoreline that is unsurpassed anywhere in the county. There are also hiking and walking trails through acres and acres of woods filled with wildlife and many beautiful and rare varieties of vegetation.

Cave Point Park is one of our favorites and a Door County favorite for everyone. This park is also on Lake Michigan and is a great place to have a picnic and explore the stone shoreline. Locals and visitors commonly use this park as an unparalleled backdrop for wedding pictures. It’s also a fantastic place to watch a Door County sunrise! That’s right, we did say sunrise. Everyone knows how gorgeous the sunsets are in Door County, but have you ever seen a Door County sunrise?!? We recommend it highly!

The cottages at Clark Lake are very clean and well maintained. There are four cottages on this property that share over 100 feet of shoreline. There is a dock that you can fish from and a paddle boat and canoe for guests to use. Clark Lake is great for swimming. Because it is an inland lake, the water is much warmer than Lake Michigan. The shore has some stones but steps leading to the water from the dock allow an easy access. The bottom of this lake is mostly sand with some stone and there is a very gradual increase in the water depth making it a safe place to swim. We recommend that kids and parents alike wear “aqua socks” for protection and comfort when swimming on this or any beach. There is also a fire-pit and sandbox on the shore and comfortable sitting chairs for all guests to enjoy. The view of the lake is really nice, at the time we visited, the sun was just starting to set over the lake and it was absolutely gorgeous and peaceful.

Our favorite cottage was the newly built log cottage. Even though this cottage wasn’t right on the water, it still has a great view of the lake and as we mentioned, all guests are able to share the shoreline. This cottage can sleep up to six and offers all the great amenities of home including a full service kitchen with plenty of counter top and cupboard space as well as everything you need for preparing and serving meals and snacks. A table for six provides an easy and comfortable place to enjoy dining inside. This is a log sided cottage and the inside is finished with cedar and pine walls and ceilings, exposed beams and log hand rails and spindles. The stairs leading to the loft are even made from “half cut” logs and are really neat.

Downstairs there is a bathroom with plenty of space for your things and a nice sized bedroom with a queen bed, rack for hanging your clothes, carpeted floor and newer dresser with mirror. The rest of the downstairs opens up to the kitchen and living room. High vaulted ceilings and exposed beams really set off the room with plenty windows that let the natural sunlight in. The living room has a sleeper sofa, rocking chair, recliner and a free standing gas fireplace set on stone in the corner. There is even a TV with over 100 channels so dad won’t miss the game! Upstairs in the loft you will find a queen bed and a single bed, plenty of space, natural light and plenty of headroom! This cottage has a private deck with two lounge chairs and a nice wrought iron table and four chairs—perfect for outdoor eating or just relaxing with a beverage or two! There is also a picnic table and grill for the guests of this cottage to use – time to cook out!

The Clark Lake Waterfront Cottages offer a great place to stay and take in Door County. We like the proximity to the parks, the great lakeside location and the clean accommodations that offer everything you need. Well, most everything! Like many of the cottages, you must bring your own linens! Blankets and kitchen towels are provided but sheets and pillowcases aren’t, so don’t forget!
