Ashbrooke Inn in Egg Harbor
This is a consistently good experieince.  This is adult only lodging with very nice rooms; it offers a quiet and relaxing atmosphere that does not dissapoint. Good service,  an exercise room, completely non-smoking, multiple room options including fireplaces and jacuzzi options.  Very Nice - my wife and I always choose Ashebrook.  - Mary D.

The Hillside Inn of Ephraim - Ephraim
This is the best B&B in Door County, and arguably the best B&B in all of Wisconsin, if not the entire midwest. The inn is beautifully appointed & maintained. The suites are spacious, clean, comfortable, & appointed with a fireplace & walkout veranda on the 2nd floor overlooking Green Bay. Jim & Clare Webb, the owners, are very gracious & welcoming hosts, & provide a terrific breakfast each morning, along with pumpkin coffee in the evening. The inn itself sits on one of the best locations in all of Door County- directly overlooking Green Bay from the heart of Ephraim, walkable to just about everything in town. Though pricey (suites average $235 per night), the Hillside Inn is worth every penny, & I, for one, will stay nowhere else.  - Jamie S.

Bay Shore Inn - Sturgeon Bay
We had never been to Door County before and wanted to stay right on the water. A friend had been here so I chose it figuring we could explore other options when we arrived.  We never left.  Didn't even want to leave to go home.  This place started feeling like home.  We got the premiere suite right on the water front.  It was huge!  Full kitchen, table for 6, breakfast bar, living room with 2 couches, 2 full baths, 2 bedrooms, each with a king size bed.  We even had a walk in closet and extra sink area in the master bedroom.  The best was the deck that was probably 30 ft long.  You could enter from either the master bedroom or the living room.  It is right on the bay.  What a beautiful view from all of the rooms.  We looked at the other units in case we couldn't get this one again and they were all very nice.  The furnishings are rather plain but are all that you need.  Comfortable bed too.  One of the best surprises was how clean everything was.  Some of the cleaning ladies have been there for 15 years and treat this as if it were their home.  I even saw one cleaning the bathroom floor on her hands and knees. Very nice ladies.  The front desk staff was wonderful too.  We would definitely go back.   - Evie B.

Applecreek Resort - Fish Creek
My husband and two friends stayed at the Applecreek resort from 2/03/06 - 02/06/06 and had a very nice mini vacation. We stayed at the guest house and it was the best. We had nice & clean separate bedrooms & bathrooms. Everything was clean and fresh. The kitchen had all equipment and appliances we needed. We are planning a vacation next year in late Summer or Fall and we will defiantly be staying at Applecreek Resorts. Very Pleased. - May T.

Leathem Smith  Lodge - Sturgeon Bay
We were at the Lodge over New Year's weekend, and  had a wonderful time.  Food was wonderful, service was impeccable and the  owners were very personable.  Right on the water with beautiful views,  this will be the only place we stay while in Sturgeon Bay.

Scofield House B&B - Sturgeon Bay
The owners did a remarkable job in making their home feel like it was our home. They live in a separate portion of the house, and they were always there if we needed a place to eat, something to do, or just for some chit chat. The second we walked in we felt completely taken care of. One of the owners was mowing the lawn when we came up, and dropped everything just to help my husband carry the bags to our room so I wouldn't have to. With that being my first impression from the place and the owners I knew this was going to be great. The decor is unbelievable, and still with such a feel of home. The rooms have enormous bathrooms, some pretty ornate, with stained glass windows and oak encased double whirlpools. Beds are SOO comfy, and you get 2 pillows each: one regular and one down so you get one that's perfect for you. HUGE video selection, and a few boardgames. The tea, coffee and treats are left out from 3pm on, and refreshed throughout the evening so if you decide you want to go and watch the stars from the porch swing with a cup of tea, you can! Breakfast was just great! I can't say enough nice things about this place.  - Danielle L.

Eagle Harbor Inn - Ephraim
We stayed in the main B&B building, not the suites. We had the "Great Room" It was advertised as a B&B but has more of a hotel feel. We did have a very nice time. Double whirlpool, fireplace, down comforters, and a cute little wooded balcony. The bathroom was huge. Staff was very helpful, and the breakfast was just great. The rest of our trip in D.C. I was CRAVING those cherry stuffed waffles!! Excellent.
Again, not the homey feel you get from a traditional B&B, And that's where I saw it advertised on. BUT as an Inn, this place is just great!!   - Danielle L.

Nordic Lodge - Sister Bay
We have been coming to Door County to the Nordic Lodge for over 10 years. The hospitality and welcome feeling from the owners, Peter and Laurie Culp is top notch. We love the cleanliness, location and just always have a great time in Sister Bay. They always have lots of information on where to go and what to see. We look forward to coming every year. Thanks Peter and Laurie.   - Bruce B.

Village Green Lodge - Ephraim
My husband and I have stayed at the Village Green almost yearly  for a number of years. The best thing about our stay is always Sue and Steve-they are very warm and friendly. The breakfasts are great!  The pool area is beautiful with many flowers, it is in a protected area on the west of the building so is warm in the afternoon with sun shining in even when the day is a little cool.  We have stayed both in the regular rooms and in a suite and both are nicely decorated, clean and cozy. A plus for us is that they only accept guests age 16 and over but we have only seen adults there on our stays.  We have children of our own but it is nice to get away to a quiet place once in a while-usually while the kids are at camp.  Many things are near by including the Old Post Office Restaurant which does a great fish boil and Wilsons which is always our 1st stop. One draw back is that Ephriam is a dry town but the rooms have a small refrigerator just right for your own bottle of wine. - Cindy C.

Holiday Motel - Sturgeon Bay
When we pulled into the driveway, i looked at my husband and rolled my eyes, thinking you have got to be kidding me, but it was Christmas Eve, we were in town to see relatives and we were on a budget. When we checked in a walked to our rooms we passed the area where the continental breakfast is served, it's a dinner counter, straight out of a 1950's dinner, very cute! When we did get to our rooms it was like a blast from the past, everything was retro, I'd say 1960's era, and they weren't trying to decorate like that, I'm guessing that it's actually looked this way all along. I'm not critizising in anyway, I thought it was adorable! It was impecably clean, comfortable, and had it been the middle of a bustling Door County summer, the location would have been ideal. I would definetly return. - Erica R.

The Alpine Resort - Egg Harbor
My family has been going to the Alpine Resort since I was born, and I know that my father's family was going there before that.  I have always had the most wonderful experiences at the Alpine.  I started going as a child and now I go with my fiancé for romantic weekends in Door County.  There is a game room, nightly events in the summer, outdoor pool, private beach, golf course, bikes and boats that you can rent for free, free pool games, ping pong, shuffleboard and many other things.  This is a great place for the family or for a romantic weekend.  The in house restaurant The Hof, is amazing, especially at breakfast.  The staff has always been friendly and accommodating, even knowing us by name after all of these years!  One of the highlights for me as a child were the hayrides that were on Tuesday nights, which still run in the summer.  I love this resort and could never imagine myself staying anywhere else.  - Lis T.

Wooden Heart Inn - Sister Bay
We have stayed at many places in Door County and Wooden Heart Inn is one of our favorites. The Inn and grounds are beautiful, the rooms are very nice and reasonably priced. The owners are very gracious and helpful. The breakfasts are wonderful !! I will probably choose Wooden Heart for all of my visits to Door County  - Sue G.

Church Hill Inn - Sister Bay
Church Hill Inn is a beautifully kept property with peaceful adult atmosphere, great breakfast buffet, and relaxing heated pool and exercise room.  Reservation staff made sure we got a room to meet our needs, and it was lovely, with private deck and bay window overlooking English garden.  Made use of the welcoming common area for reading and relaxing.  Within walking distance to fine dining and the glorious sunsets over Green Bay.  - Karen B

Edgewater Resort - Ephraim
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Edgewater. The suite was tastefully decorated, clean, and comfortable. The staff was very friendly. The only disappointment was the "beach" (which is no fault of the resort) Navigator's rave review about the awesome beach was the deciding factor in
where to stay. But there is no beach - there is a grass area lined with rocks so you can't even wade into the water. Very, very disappointing Door County Navigator!!! Oh and the grass area wasn't kept up all that great either. -Terree J.EDITOR'S NOTE: Lake Michigan water levels have been low now for some time, and this dramatically impacts Door County's beaches. When the water level is down, the water recedes, leaving rocks and grass. By law, the resort, inn etc. may not touch the natural growth in the area now visible because of the receding water - no one can interfere with nature and groom it - so it grows wild, until the water levels rise and the beach returns! You can check water levels here. By the way, we love this resort too!

The Shallows Reosrt - Egg Harbor
My husband and I just got back from our Door County vacation. We got a room at the Shallows motel on the recommendation of a friend. We were BLOWN AWAY
by the entire resort. It's right on the water, and our motel room faced right on the bay. What really made our stay, though, was the people and the atmosphere. Both of us came to Door County as kids, so we came armed with vague memories of our favorite activities. The owners and the staff were able to decipher the little we remembered into actual places. Plus, they gave us some great recommendations for things to do around the area that we didn't know about. The location of the Shallows was great--they're almost exactly in the middle of the county, so we never had to drive for more than half an hour to get anywhere. The Shallows was such a relaxed, open place. They've got a lot of shoreline, and chairs everywhere to lounge around in. It seemed to be a very family-oriented resort--we saw lots of kids playing in the pool and in the sand. (I liked the pool too...I tried a swim in Green Bay, but brrrr!!! Luckily, the hot tub is only a few yards away from the beach.)We're definitely coming back to the Shallows, although we don't know where we're going to stay next time. In addition to the motel (very clean and roomy), they've got townhouses and cabins and even a few large houses to
stay in. We may go up in our accomodations as our family grows. It's pretty obvious from the review, but I'll say it again--if you like relaxation and water, the Shallows is a GREAT place to stay in Door County! -Becky B.

Juniper Inn - Fish Creek
We have stayed at several places in Door County, but none have we liked so much as the Juniper Inn. It was very relaxing and romantic. It is secluded, with a breathtaking view of trees and wildlife. We stayed in the Evergreen room and it was spectacular. It had a deck, a double whirlpool, a sitting area with cathedral ceilings, and all the amenities you could possibly ask for. The owner, Mark, makes cookies, muffins, granola, and fruit soup, from scratch, every morning for breakfast, and they are delicious. He is very friendly and helpful. We will definitely return there and bring our friends and family with us. - Joy P.

Thorp House Inn and Cottages - Fish Creek
My wife & I have been staying at the Thorp House Inn twice a year for the last ten years.  Beautiful place to stay. The staff makes us feel like this is our home away from home.  We like the location, right in Fish Creek, But on a quiet street a block off of Hwy. 42. - David R.

Leathem Smith Lodge - Sturgeon Bay
WOW, what a nice place to stay! The owners,Chuck and Mary are two of the nicest people I've ever met. Accomadations are clean and comfordable. My family and friends visit Door Co. often and stay at Leathem Smith and will not stay anywhere else. - Jim M.

Stone Harbor Resort - Sturgeon Bay
What a fantastic place to stay. We spent a romantic weekend at the Stone Harbor Resort. The Martini Lounge was exceptional with bar staff that remembered your name and drink of choice. Hotel staff was friendly and everyone knew your name. The rooms were top notch, clean and modern. Kohler fixtures were a classy touch.  Horse drawn carriage rides out front.  Jacuzzi tub in the room. Romance isn't dead.  It's hidden within the Stone Harbor Resort. We're coming back Memorial weekend for a repeat. I can't thank them enough for giving us such a fabulous weekend.  -Janet and Bruno

Somerset Inn & Suites - Ephraim
My husband and I loved our stay there. It was very romantic and relaxing. We stayed in their beautiful luxury suite this winter. They have a huge indoor pool and whirlpool, and gave us many amenities with our room. The owners were very friendly, and we are definitely going back to stay there this year. - Joy P.

Wagon Trail Resort - Ellison Bay
IF YOU GO TO DOOR COUNTY FOR RELAXATION AND BEING IN THE SPIRIT OF THE WISCONSIN NORTHWOODS I STRONGLY SUGGEST THE WAGON TRAIL RESORT IN ELLISON BAY. WE HAVE BEEN GOING TO THE WAGON TRAIL FOR MANY YEARS STARTING WHEN OUR CHILDREN WERE VERY YOUNG. WE HAVE NEVER BEEN DISAPPOINTED. WE STARTED OUT AT THE CAMPGROUND NEXT DOOR AND THEN THE LODGE. WE LOVE WALKING INTO THE LODGE AND SMELLING THE BAKERY, HAVING THE INDOOR POOL WAITING AND THE FRIENDLY STAFF. NOW THAT ARE KIDS ARE GROWN WE HAVE A EMTPY NESTER WEEK-END THERE EVERY FALL WITH GREAT FRIENDS AND WE STAY AT THE VACATION HOMES. WE DRIVE 5 HOURS TO GET THERE BUT THE DRIVE IS WORTH IT AND IT IS LIKE COMING HOME. - Jeanne S.

Chanticleer Guest House - Sturgeon Bay
We had an excellent 3 nights at the Chanticleer Guest House. Both innskeepers were very friendly and attentive. Check-in was accompanied with a tour of the beautiful grounds. The private trails available on the grounds were excellent for a slow nature walk or an invigorating run. There were fresh baked homemade cookies and fresh fruit available all day long. And the breakfasts were to die for (also homemade and delivered to our room). Our room was perfect with the double whirlpool and quaint decorations. The inground heated pool and sauna were also perfect ways to relax. The Chanticleer was a wonderful place to relax and enjoy Door County. - Jennifer S.

Main Street Motel - Fish Creek
Hi, a friend and I stayed at the Main Street Motel over the 2003 Memorial Day weekend. It was a great place to stay. The rooms, with two large beds, were roomy. The ceiling fan and windows on two sides allowed us to have perfect ventilation. The location was great. We walked to see the sunset on the bay and to do Fish Creek shopping and dining. We drove to many other areas as well. We would definitely stay here again. If we had stayed longer we would have had time to enjoy the outdoor seating. -Janet A.

Eagle Harbor Inn - Ephraim
This B&B has a wonderful, friendly staff, double-jacuzzis and mini-kitchens in all of the suites, and a truly amazing, homemade breakfast. It's a short stroll from "downtown" Ephraim and right across the street from the public beach. A 1-minute drive takes you to Peninsula State Park. And Ephraim is centrally located, so you're never far from any of the other Door County towns. - Louis B.
