New in Spring 2017, in Egg Harbor, is Serendipity Restaurant, in the old location of Trio at Highway 42 and County E. We have already met with the new owenrs, Tami and Eric, and were inpressed.
Eric, the chef, has cooked for over 30 years. They updated the interior a bit, with gray walls and simople decor, making the food the focus. The atmosphere is pleasant, the staff welcoming, and Tami herself may lead you to your table. The food looks to be very good, and we have interviewed some people who have gone to their "soft opening" Reports have been very postiive.
DoorCountyNavigator.com reviewed the new restaurant just recently and we liked what we discovererd. We actually shot video as well, which will be coming soon.
After an early dinner, we went back to speak with Eric in the kitchen. He was preapring a couple of super looking dishes: a pan-seared salmon, with beurre blac, garlic and rosemary potatoes and asparagus; and a coq au vin - prepared with pearl onions, mushrooms, red wine, served with golden mashed potatoes and more.
Check out their menu!
Serendipity also has a kids menu, and will be adding a couple of tables in their outdoor courtyard. Cool. There are about a dozen wines by the glass or bottle, and about 16 bottled beers available, some local to Door County. Main menu is ambitious with lots to offer.
Appetizers range from mushroom risotto to wedge salad crab Louie and more. Main courses offered prosciutto wrapped chicken breast, coq au vin, lobster ravioli, seafood risotto, apricot brandy chicken breast, Black Angus filets, ribeyes and more. Pretty much something for everyone. Kids have plenty of choices including burgers. Ordering is a la carte.
There is also a large selection of cheeses you can order for appetizer (in Italy they would order for desseert in places so keep that in mind).
We ordered the mushroom risotto and a wedge salad. So often in restaurants, the risotto rice is either underdone and crispy, or overdone and mushy. This was perfect. Chopped pieces and chunks of white button mushrooms permeated the risotto. Very good.
The salad wedge had bacon bits in the bleu cheese dressing - all dressings are house made. This dressing is more like a buttermilk dressing with bleu cheese - so did not have the overpowering flavor or fragrance of bleu cheese. It was delicious and their own little twist on a dressing.
We ordered up a prosciutto wrapped chicken breast, and the seafood risotto. The chicken breast was like a roulade, with ricotta cheese and sage stuffing. The prosciutto added a saltiness to the dish, of course. Overall it was s delightful dish. The seafood risotto - again the risotto was done perfectly, and it had chunks of shrimp and bits of lobster throughout, laced with mascarpoone cheese, which makes it creamy. It was very good! A glass of chardonnay with the risotto was perfect.
We were too full for dessert. Next time.
We recommend you try Serendipity Restaurant in Egg Harbor - you will find somehting you love on the menu and let us know what you think. And please tell Tami and DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you!
