The Lodge, an FM radio station located at 106.9, is a station you will enjoy while you stay in Door County and miss while you are away.

But keep in mind the Lodge broadcasts worldwide at and you can listen anytime you want over the internet!

You’ll want to stay in touch with the Lodge, because the music played is cool and reminiscent of good things in your life and in touch with where you are now.

Some call it acoustic rock. Others say it’s coffee house music or singer-songwriter style tunes. The Lodge calls it “world class rock for a world class county.”

In other words, there is a good blend of music being played by the Lodge. Some songs you haven’t heard for a while, and you wonder why you haven’t. After all, they are good songs, and they sound fresh.

Take, for example, songs by Steely Dan. The group was feature during a recent “Ten@Ten” show on the Lodge. The station plays ten top songs from one year beginning at 10 a.m.

“One day it can be 1972, the next day 1984. And it will be in our genre of music,” said Carrie Mesic, vice president and sales manager of the Lodge.

Listeners to the Lodge hear artists including Paul Simon, Fleetwood Mac, Bruce Springsteen and 10,000 Maniacs, to name just a few. Also, enjoy Tom Petty, R.E.M., U2, Sheryl Crow, Dave Matthews Band and many others.

“It has a little bit more arts and entertainment feel to it, and we feature local Door County music,” Carrie said.

The Lodge presents Lodge Local 1069, featuring music by Peninsula musicians: Big Mouth, Hans Christian, Jeanne Kuhns, Eli Mattson, Eric Lewis, Adam MacIntosh and others residing from Washington Island to southern Sturgeon Bay.

In fact, the idea for The Lodge radio station came to Carrie and her husband, Mike, during a getaway from Milwaukee to Door County. They perceived a need for a new radio station to be, well, in harmony with the arty Peninsula.

The Mesics pursued a long process of establishing the station by applying to the FCC and eventually successfully bidding on the station at an FCC auction.

Mike has 20 years of experience in radio programming and management. The couple lived in Michigan, Colorado, Minnesota, Nebraska and Milwaukee before relocated in February 2008 to Door County. The Lodge was on air in April 2008.

The Lodge has a studio at 10331 Water St., Ephraim, and a tower south of Baileys Harbor. It covers a 40-mile radius, which includes all of Door County as well as portions of Kewaunee, Marinette and Menominee Counties. We feel the signal is strong and easy to find in your car, at the beach or campground.

And if you are a Door County store owner, the Lodge is also a nice radio station to have playing in your business. The on-air personalities are pleasant and do not excessively talk. And the music seems appropriate for a wide range of people, age 18 to 60.

Top local, regional and national news headlines are aired throughout the day and evening, too.

More special Lodge programs and features include Door After Dark (music for kicking back or unwinding with someone special Friday through Sunday at 10 p.m.), Saturday Morning Seventies (how groovy is that?) and Door County Mix (Sunday nights at 9 p.m. featuring commentary, literature, storytelling and song).
