As you drive north through the Door Peninsula to The Shoreline Resort, the scenery becomes increasingly peaceful and quiet.  You stop driving when you see water at the northernmost tip of Door County.

The Shoreline Resort sits right here in Gills Rock, a small town and commercial fishing village. There are 12 rooms in the motel, and all accommodations offer spectacular views of Green Bay waters and Door Bluff County Park.

Choose from two types of rooms in the two-story motel. Each has a private bath with tub and shower.  One style offers guests two queen-size beds.  Another option is one queen-size bed and a sofa.

They are nicely decorated and some have original artwork by the late Pat Norton, an artist inspired by her father, a lighthouse keeper.

On the Water

There's plenty to do on the water in Door County, and from Gills Rock you can catch the passenger ferry to Washington Island, as well as fishing charters and more.  If you want to take your car to Washington Island, the ferry is in Northport, about two miles east on Highway 42, past Bea's ho-Made Products.  A little further south, in Sister Bay, you can catch sailing tours and scenic tours by boat.

Have a boat or know someone in Door County with a boat?  Well, The Shoreline Resort also has a marina with slips to rent, and even a couple of transient slips to rent too.

Back on Land

Back on shore,  head over to the Door County Maritime Museum in Gills Rock. It’s affiliated with the Sturgeon Bay site, but has a totally different collection.

Many Shoreline Resort guests also plan day trips to Washington Island or go hiking in Newport State Park in Ellison Bay.   And Shoreline Restaurant is right next door, one of our favorite places to dine!
