Door County Cottages gives travelers an opportunity to stay in architecturally intriguing homes in the woods while being close to much that Door County has to offer. These cottages are fantastic!
When booking this property, please be sure to refer to their Property ID # DCNAV- 4355.
Six different (and we mean truly different) accommodations are available here (two are in one large structure). Each building is situated on its own two-acre wooded parcel, making Door County Cottages a great choice for those who want privacy or prefer quiet or even families who have pets (Door County Cottages prides itself on being “very pet friendly”).
A gravel road runs through the property, making it easy to find the cottage you reserved. Walking trails are available, too, and the homes have pristine views of woodlands, wildlife like turkey and deer and the neighboring Jorns Sugar Bush where they have made maple syrup for decades.
Inside, each home has new satellite radio, a fully equipped kitchen with appliances and conveniences including a coffee maker, toaster and pots and plates. At least one private bath is in each house. Two even have saunas, and some have radiant floor heating. There are whirlpool tubs, wood-burning fireplaces in the cottages, as well.
Here’s a brief overview of the Door County Cottages:
Fieldstone Cottage: This is a two bedroom and one bathroom cottage, nicely nestled into this resort property. It was the first cottage constructed by the property’s owner, and you will immediately see from the stone exterior how it got its name. There is a stoned walkway leading to the entrance.
Step inside and check out the open floor plan. There’s a woodburning stove, and a great room outfitted with leather furniture and more. Enjoy the sunroom, which affords views of the woods.
Don’t miss an opportunity to try out the sauna. The transom windows, and the natural wood in the bathroom are worth noting. This cottage seems like a great place to bring a book, your laptop or just a person you want to be with for a long weekend or a week . . .
Gretna Cottage is another great choice. It affords two levels of living space and has three bedrooms and three bathrooms. But most of the space to enjoy is spread out on the first floor, where there is a great room, the kitchen, a sunroom overlooking the woods and two bathrooms.
Enjoy the outdoor decks, too. Don’t miss the Finnish-style sauna.
The Lincoln Cottage: This three bedroom and one bathroom cottage has a light and bright decorating scheme that really drew us in. The walls are painted a contemporary maize color, and the light wood vaulted ceiling is pleasant and unique.
The ladder leading up to the loft is a real focal point, while the seating around the breakfast bar (as well as dining table) makes this a great place for two couples or a family to enjoy dinners and breakfast in.
Enjoy the outdoors from the covered porch front porch, and the deck. This was a DoorCountyNavigator.com favorite at Door County Cottages.
The Elise and Elena Cottages:
The Elise and Elena Cottages each offer two bedrooms and two bathrooms cottage while giving vacationers an opportunity to experience construction in harmony with nature. The environmental construction techniques include earth berming (partially sheltering in a hill), solar energy and radiant floor heating. The cottages (each with their own entrance) are made from concrete and have south exposure.
Each cottage is light and bright with a distant view of maple trees and farmland. All the vacation comforts are right at hand—just as they are in the other Door County Cottages. There are master bedrooms open to oversized whirlpool tubs, woodburning fireplaces and kitchen and dining areas.
The Lodge: With six bedrooms and four bathrooms, the spectacular Lodge home is a perfect place for a family reunion. It has a striking built-in aquarium, radiant floor heating and passive solar energy.
This unique 4,000 square foot home offers two levels of living space and a sleeping loft. The main level includes a family room with a two-sided fireplace as well as a sunroom. The vaulted wood ceilings are spectacular. Enjoy the striking outdoor spaces, too, including the huge outdoor deck, outdoor porch, walking trail out the back door and so much more. And they are open in the winter too!
