Door County Lighthouse Inn
Winter Hours
All winter!
This B&B in the heart of Egg Harbor is a unique blend of country charm with a nautical theme throughout. Wonderful inn!
Guys may like this B&B a lot because of the nautical theme, and non-Victorian flavor for a change of pace in the B&B world. And this is a walk-around community inn, meaning you can literally walk to shops, restaurants and other Egg Harbor attractions in a matter of minutes. And they serve fresh home made breakfast each morning! On our most recent visit, we learned they have added DVD players, refrigerators, and down pillows to each room! Wow - keeps getting better and better! We love this inn!
And there are special packages and tours too! The Door County Lighthouse Inn is the home of the Door County Ultimate Lighthouse Adventure Package. This is a 5 night package including the Door County Trolley Lighthouse Tour, Door County Maritime Museums, and lots more. Other special packages are available as well light a Lighthouse Trolley Package or a Wine & Dine Package! Learn about their special packages by clicking here! (And tell them we sent you)!
And if you love lighthouses, they also have available to the public a Self Guided Lighthouse Tour of Door County. This may be purchased by any one; you do not have to be a guest of the B&B. This package includes the Lighthouses of Door County Book, a highlighted county map with the route to 5 of the mainland lighthouses, tickets for 2 into Eagle Bluff and Cana Island Lighthouses, and into the Door County Maritime Museum in Sturgeon Bay. Check for pricing. Also the Lighthouses of Door County Book may be purchased separately. It is a small book with photographs of the 10 area lighthouses, and a short history of each lighthouse written by Claire Murphy and Steven Karges (author of Keepers of the Lights). The book also includes detailed direction and a map of how to locate each one. This book sells for $8.00 plus postage and handling.
Owned by Claire and Frank Murphy, the inn is their dream! Walk into a cozy sitting and breakfast room, complete with a fireplace and several cushy chairs for relaxing. Lots of lighthouse information is available here, and beautiful lighthouse plates line the wall above the sliding doors off this sitting room.
All five rooms are named after Door County lighthouses. We spent about an hour and a half with Claire touring the inn and chatting about their dream. All rooms are carpeted, and some rooms have gas fireplaces. Original art work grace the walls from local artists like Charles Johnson and Nanette Chapeau. In the sitting room and in each of the available lighthouse rooms, original art makes the rooms even that much more special. TVs and VCRs are hidden in units in each of the rooms.
The Sherwood Point Lighthouse room (shown to the right) on the first floor is wheelchair accessible -no steps to get into the inn, and no steps to this wonderful room, which also has wheelchair accessible shower and bathroom. This is a great feature not always found in the older B&Bs. This room now has a king bed or two twins for separate sleeping, antique rocker, lovely velour covered sitting chair and a water view of Egg Harbor! Hand stenciling completes a cozy look.
The Cana Island room has a whirlpool in the room, gas fireplace, with a TV and VCR hidden behind folding doors above the fireplace. Neatly done! A queen Cabo bed with wrought iron frame, quilted bed spread, green and burgundy plaid curtains, Cana Island watercolors, hand stenciling around the ceiling border, a small deck and a water view make this a great choice.
The Eagle Bluff Lighthouse room (shown to the right and below) sports a pencil-post queen canopied bed, with white lace trim on the canopy (it's fine guys!), a whirlpool in the bathroom, gas fireplace, dresser, and quilt. Again, hand stenciling completes a very cozy look and feel. This is a
great room, on the second floor. One of our favorites.
The Potawatomi Lighthouse room is done up in cottage-white furnishings, and has a white wicker chair, blue, yellow and white bed cloths and tablecloth and a lovely Charles Johnson watercolor. No whirlpool in this room.
Lastly, the Baileys Harbor Range Light room has another pencil-post queen bed in deep blue, an antique rocker with navy blue with red dot fabric, and a burgundy and tan bed spread. A Cynthia McGuire watercolor completes the room.
We asked Claire what guests like most, and she said that the nautical theme is very popular, and that the inn atmosphere is very comfortable and relaxed. We agree - it is a cozy and comfy place!
Guests can select from a nice library of lighthouse videos and a variety of standard movie videos available in the sitting room area.![]()
Adults only (no kids), no smoking and no pets, the Door County Lighthouse Inn is open year round - yes even in winter!
