CENTER STAGE – WASHINGTON ISLAND
Dates of event: 1/3/10 To 5/2/10
Island Players will present its tenth season of “Center Stage,” an informal monthly afternoon of play readings performed at the Recreation Center. In January, “Center Stage” will sponsor a retrospective of Island Players’ 25 years of serving the community. As part of the program, former Board members will be honored and invited to share stories from past years. 2- 4 PM on the first Sunday of each month. http://www.islandplayers.org/

DOOR COUNTY WINTER WONDERLAND TOUR - 2010
Dates of event:         February 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th
                           March 6th, 13th, 20th, 27th

Pickup is countywide between 9:30 and 10:00 AM.  Trolley guests will tour/taste at an award winning winery, followed by a cozy sleigh ride through the Door’s most wintry landscapes. THE BIG READ 2010: “MY ANTONIA” BY WILLA CATHER
Dates of event: 1/11/10 To 2/14/10
Location: Countywide
Peninsula Players and Door County Library present a month-long series of events to begin January 11th as The Big Read Door County 2010 celebrates and explores Willa Cather’s “My Antonia”. MILLER ART MUSEUM – STURGEON BAY
EXHIBIT: BARBARA’S FARM BY DAN ANDERSON
Dates of event: 1/16/10 To 3/2/10
The first of seven changing exhibits annually, in this exhibit, Dan Anderson creates a childhood memoir of this northern Door Farm where he played as a child. GUIDED SNOWSHOE HIKES AT THE RIDGES SANCTUARY -BAILEYS HARBOR

The Ridges in winter shows a beautiful, serene landscape that is enjoyed by those who love Wisconsin winters. These hikes with a Ridges naturalist cover the cultural and natural history of the ridges and swales in their “off season”. Enjoy a leisurely hike on level terrain. THE RIDGES GREAT WAFFLE BREAKFAST – BAILEYS HARBOR
Date of Event: 2/06/10
At the Baileys Harbor Town Hall from 9-11 AM. Waffles in all shapes and sizes made by the Ridges Sanctuary Staff and volunteers. Top your waffles off with Door County grown and produced maple syrup and cherry sauce. LIONS CLUB ANNUAL FISH DERBY ON WASHINGTON ISLAND
Dates of Event: 2/06/10 – 2/14/10
A week long fishing competition offering cash prizes for the top catches to those who take on the challenges of the frozen waters of Lake Michigan. A family fun luncheon and famous Bingo, held at the historic and famous Nelson’s Hall & Pub for the fisherman and non-fishing visitors and friends. Call for details. 920-847-2179.

CANDLELIGHT SKI – FISH CREEK
Date of Event: 2/6/10
At Peninsula State Park.  5:30 -8 PM. Ski gently rolling one-mile, candle-lit trail through the woods.  Bonfire with refreshments at the warming shelter. If there is not enough snow there will still be a candlelight hike. Meet at Lot 5 on Highland Road. Park sticker required, donation suggested.  Info, call 920-868-3258.

6th ANNUAL DOOR COUNTY IDOL CONTEST – FISH CREEK
Date of Event:  2/06/10
At the Door Community Auditorium (Top of the Hill in Fish  Creek) beginning at 7:00 PM.  Competing for the title of Door County Idol, some of the peninsula’s most talented young singers between the ages of 15-19 will perform before the audience and a panel of three judges. Ballot voting will determine the finalist. Tickets, $8 adults, $5 students. 920-868-2728.

Peninsula Music Festival’s February Fest
Dates of Event: 2/10/10, 2/20/10
The Peninsula Music Festival will once again present the February Fest, in two parts:

February Fest I:  Wednesday, February 10th - 7:00 PM. at Shepherd of the Bay Lutheran Church in Ellison Bay. This program is part of "The Big Read"; the featured novel this year is Willa Cather's My AntoiniaThe Big Read is an initiative of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with the Institute of Museum and Library Services and Arts Midwest.  Artists performing will be: Tracy Figard, Kristin Figard, Janet Bond Sutter, and Judith Jackson.

February Fest II:  Saturday, February 20, 2010 - 7:00 pm. at Peninsula Art School in Fish Creek.  Artists performing will be: The Excelsior Trombone Ensemble

WINTER WINE & CHERRY FEST – FISH CREEK

23rd ANNUAL FISH CREEK WINTER FESTIVAL - FISH CREEK

Fish Creek will host a weekend of fun and frivolity. Winter Fest activities will feature something to delight every age. We have attended several times, and with children!  This fun winter event has lots for the kids and families. Lots of good eating.

This comedy by Neil Simon is presented at the Third Avenue Playhouse in Sturgeon Bay – 239 N. CANDLELIGHT SKI, HIKE AND SNOWSHOE – ELLISON BAY

At Newport State Park.  6 –9 PM.  Experience Newport State Park in a different light. Ski, hike, or snowshoe on a 1-mile trail lit by homemade candles. A bonfire, refreshments and lit grills will greet participants at the end of the trail. At the Trinity Lutheran Church, Island Players will present the comic drama Painting Churches by Tina Howe. Margaret Church, a professional artist, has come home to help her parents move to their summer cottage on Cape Cod. FOLK CONCERT SERIES AT THE WHITE GULL INN - FISH CREEK

Shout Sister Shout and the Steppin In It Band.  A band that plays roots music with the homey feel of old time country, swing music and the blues and Rachael Davis performing as Shout Sister Shout with her bright clear vocals, the music is a tribute to the smoky, sophisticated sound of 1930s and '40s jazz. Then, as popular as the concert, the optional pre-concert dinner served at 6:00 PM, includes Chicken, shrimp & andouille sausage jambalaya with basmati rice and corn bread, mixed greens salad with tomatoes and spiced zucchini in a citrus chile vinaigrette. At the Wave Pointe Marina in Sturgeon Bay. Get an early start! 4 AM - 6PM. Door County Walleyes for Tomorrow/Dave Pagels Memorial Ice Fishing Derby. A fun-filled day highlighted by a fishing tournament, which ends at 2 PM. Live music 5-10 PM. Raffles for artwork, fishing supplies, hunting equipment, kids events and live music.
