Coyote Roadhouse
On E just on the western shore of Kangaroo Lake

What can we say? This is a unique place, right on Kangaroo Lake on Hwy E in Baileys Harbor this is not on the main street (Hwy 57) so don't look for it there. It's really not that easy to find unless you happen upon it, or are really looking for it. But when you do, it's worth the experience!

The Roadhouse is an original, and truly a roadhouse - pull off the road and have a meal and something to drink. As you enter, you see a sign that says "You are Entering Wisconsin" - which has just been moved to the left of the bar - but it's still true! The ceiling is made entirely of wood planks, and from the floor to the ceiling, support posts of raw tree trunks. Other country items are displayed throughout, including a Justice of the Peace sign near the jukebox (play some Jimmy Buffet - perfect setting for his music!). You get the feeling you are walking into something old with a lot of character, and a lot of stories in them there walls! We have eaten here many times, and we like it a lot. We had the baby back ribs, which were delicious, a huge New York strip steak which was made to perfection, and a variety of sandwiches - huge burgers and more! Lots of locals go here, so you know its good, and it's open in the winter - it's on a snowmobile trail, so lots stop in to warm up and eat.
There is an outdoor deck that can seat about another 20 people, with a view of Kangaroo Lake.

There is a full bar - see if Angela the bartender is there, and say "HI"! Ask about the singing fish! If you remember Jeremy, the bartender who was at the Coyote for a while, she is now at the Neighborhood Bar in Sturgeon bay pouring drinks! Stop in there - but don't call her "Jerry"! See our Bar, Taverns and Saloons review.
