The Ephraim Inn is a wonderfully snug and inviting B & B in the beautiful town of Ephraim, and right along the waterfront! When you walk through the door, you feel a warm of the deep rich colors of the wallpapers, the coordinated furniture, the general ambiance of a place of comfort and relaxation. The owners and innkeepers, Tim & Nancy Christofferson, are exceptional hosts, and the staff friendly, and always helpful. You just feel very comfortable here, and that is a great feeling! The "Common Room" pictured below is a delight to the eyes with rich woods and period wallpapers, and to the ears, as peaceful music swells the air! Cozy couches, a fireplace, books what else do we need?
The original house was a logging office at Eagle Terrace in Peninsula State Park, and was moved in 1908 as a private residence for the Ephraims General Store! Dr. William Sneeberger purchased the place in 1929 and practiced medicine in the building for 40 years! Tim and Nancy purchased the inn in 1983.
There are 17 rooms, 9 having a view of the crisp, clean waters of the Green Bay facing west. This makes for glorious sunset viewing as the sun rests in the west over the bay and islands. All rooms are different, and have been individually stenciled by Nancy to match the theme which starts with the unusual plaques on door with Shaker-style symbols that match each rooms key fob (instead of room numbers) - nice touch! And they are just packed with antiques and many collectibles that add certain quaintness to them. Tim told us that guests have actually have purchased items and left them in the rooms if they thought it would add to the ambiance! Now that doesnt happen everywhere! Some rooms have showers, some shower/tubs. And there are no phones in the rooms! Escape!
The inn is noted for serving hearty, country breakfasts in the sunroom and dining rooms on the main floor - that include homemade granola, fresh bakery, fruit, juices and hot entrees as well. We paged threw the guest book and looked at some of the comments, and they were so powerfully positive, and are reassuring to the next guest!
"Your inn is a treasure of romance and atmosphere!"
"Never had we had such delicious breakfasts! Thank you for the warm hospitality!"
"The cozy room, wonderful food, beautiful surroundings and pleasant staff made our stay most memorable."
"Another delightful stay with you! Its like coming home!"
"We have greatly enjoyed the huge cookies left each night by the cookie-elves!"
We really feel that seeing the guest comments is important these can really help you get a feel for the place outside of our personal tours and interviews with the owners, and they speak volumes! Candid comments are so powerful! We paged threw a good portion of the book, and folks just seem to enjoy the Ephraim Inn for all of the things we mention above: food, hospitality, ambiance, charm, quiet!
We also noted that the inn was full of six-panel doors, and Tim shared with us the secret of the design of a six-panel door here is a graphic:
Note the boxes are three different sizes. If you squint you might be able to tell! The part between the top two sets of boxes forms a cross, and the bottom two panels are like an open bible!
The Ephraim Inn is open year round, and is a smoke-free, pet-free environment catering to adults. We know youll love this inn!
