Places to Stay : Fish Creek
Cedar Court Inn
P.O. Box 94 On Cedar street
Fish Creek 920-868-3361
Fish
Creek is often the top destination for folks coming up to Door County,
and Cedar Court, in the heart of Fish Creek, offers a broad spectrum
of accommodation choices, from a simple motel room, to elegant suites
and guest houses. Wow – all in one place! And we have stayed
at Cedar Court, so we have experienced not only a tour of the facilities,
but the full staying experience, from our wonderful accommodations to
the friendly folks who manage Cedar Court, Bob and Teresa Martin (who,
by the way, have managed Cedar Court since 1973 – so they really
know what they are doing and they do it right). Stick with us, you are
going to love this place! And this place is open year round.
First of
all, location, location, location. You can’t get a better
location in Fish Creek – you can literally walk the town from Cedar
court, walk down to the harbor (1 block away), and walk to historic sites,
Sunset Park, shops, restaurants and everything Fish Creek has to offer.
All guests enjoy the use of the outdoor, heated pool in season.
The Accommodations
All the rooms, suites and guest houses have a coffeemaker, air conditioning,
cable TV, at least a dorm size refrigerator and telephone.
MOTEL ROOMS First,
if you desire a simple motel room, with standard accommodations, but
right in the heart of Fish Creek – walk to Founder’s
Square, shops and restaurants – then select one of Cedar Courts
motel rooms, which range from about $69 - $89 a night (always check with
the innkeeper for current and accurate rates). They are configured with
either a king, or two queens.
SUITES
The main building houses six suites. All suites come with all of the
above, plus a fireplace and double whirlpool.
Suite
#28: If you would like a suite, then check out of
the terrific suites in the main building. We toured a couple of
them and they are wonderful. First we toured #28, on the main floor,
and the only suite in the building with a kitchen (so if this is
important to you, pick this one). Carpeted, and with a private
outdoor entrance, this suite offers a king, pencil post bed, draped
in a beautiful floral quilt, and a fireplace right in the bedroom!
The bathroom, off the bedroom, has some nice touches like a chair
rail with rose-colored walls above, and coordinating floral print
wallpaper below. Very nice decorative touches, and nice woodwork
throughout.
The sitting area has a rose and green floral couch, a Ben Franklin-typed
stove, a TV and other niceties to make your stay comfortable. The full
kitchen has wainscoting style cabinets and plenty of working space.
One last
interesting option: a stairway leads up to a locked door, but if you
are traveling with another couple, for example, they can rent the suite
that this locked door leads to, and you can then “connect” them
by having the door unlocked – nice option!
Upstairs
to Suite #20: Upstairs is another great suite, with
a queen pencil post bed, and a double-sided fireplace that opens to the
sitting area and the bedroom. The room also opens up onto an outdoor
deck for relaxing, reading, talking, watching. The bathroom, once again,
nicely done with floral wallpaper below the char rail.
The suites are well done, and all have nice, tasteful decorative accents
throughout. You will enjoy these suites!
GUEST HOUSES
There are about 10 guest houses or cottages on the grounds. You must
bring your own towels for the guest houses, so please note. All of the
guest houses have a separate bedroom (at least), kitchen, fireplace and
double whirlpool.
We have
stayed in a couple of the guest houses, and they are great. So we toured
a 3 – bedroom one this time, called “Mini’s.” This
guest house normally accommodates 6 people, but can take up to 8. The
living room/sitting area has a fireplace, and a green and mauve plaid
couch, a full kitchen, and a dining table and 6 chairs. The master bedroom
has a queen bed, and a private bathroom complete with whirlpool! The
second and third bedrooms have queen beds. This guesthouse offers a sense
of comfort, ease and relaxation. We felt ‘at home” in it
immediately, and we sensed that those who stay here must like it a lot – so
we perused through the guest comment book, and found that we were correct.
- “This is our 10th
year staying at Mini’s!”
- “We loved our 15th
stay at Mini’s!”
- “We’ll look
forward to next year – counting the months till we’ll be
back at Mini’s”
OK, wow – sounds like if you stay at Mini’s you’re
going to love it and return over and over again! We can see why – so
book early!
We really
like Cedar Court Inn. The grounds are beautiful, with a white picket
fence surrounding the property; access to the water, the entire town
footsteps from your door, and in the heart of Fish Creek – a
very popular destination. Perfect. And because Cedar Court is off the
main road (down Cedar Street), you also get a sense of calm quiet and
seclusion – even though everything is literally steps away. You
will like it too, and we are sure you will return again and again! Visit Cedar
Court’s website right now to discover more! Please tell Bob
and Teresa that you found them on DoorCountyNavigator.com!
