With 19 two-story suites, the Hilltop Inn and Suites offers first-rate accommodations at one of the best locations in Fish Creek, and Door County. From your suite, you can walk to the Top of the Hill shops, the Peninsula Art School, and even the Door Community Auditorium! And you are about half-a-mile to the beautiful peninsula State Park (Door County’s largest State Park, and a genuine treat). You are also very close to a great YMCA facility, where you can get day passes inexpensively and use their exercise facilities, swimming pool and spa. They even have a kids pool – we have been there many times – great idea especially in the winter.

A smoke-free environment since January 1 2005, three buildings comprise the campus, one with 4 units, one with 5 units and the last with 10. We like two-story suites, as they give a real sense of space and comfort. The layouts are the same in each of the units (though you can choose one or two bedroom units) so you can expect to get what we describe in any one of the units for the most part. However, Building C is the closet to the outdoor pool and spa – just a hint! You will get a variety of views from the suites – some pool views, some woods, and some the front part of the property along with the parking lot. Kids are allowed (12 and under stay free), but no pets are allowed. All the suites are similarly decorated, with minor variations.

Cribs and high chairs are available upon request.

The grounds around each of the buildings are well kept and colorful in season with a variety of plants and flowers. The Hilltop offers an outdoor heated pool and spa in season. So on with the tour!

Our Tour

Main Floor
We met with the General Manager, then we reviewed a unit in the C Building (C-10). Again, all the units have the same layout, similar furnishings and decorative touches. As you enter, you enter through the fully-equipped kitchen – complete with glassware, dishes, pots, pans, electric range, full refrigerator, double stainless steel sink, microwave and dishwasher – even wine glasses area available. With plenty of cabinet and counter space, you will feel “at-home” here. If you like grilling, you may also request a grill for your outdoor needs!

Pass through the kitchen, past the half-bath on the main floor, into the living room, tastefully decorated with a country theme print above the sleeper sofa and other nice touches. Two coordinating easy chairs, coffee table, end tables with lamps, and a round dining table with 4 chairs complete the furnishings. The centerpiece of the living room is the field stone gas fireplace against the angled wall – you can see yourself warming in front of the fireplace on a cool fall or cold winter day – ahh!

Off the living room is a small deck overlooking the trees, grass and pool.

Upstairs
Off we headed upstairs, where you will find two private bedrooms awaiting you. The master bedroom has a two-tone blue quilt on the queen bed, with a Broyhill-style headboard and matching nightstand. Plenty of closet space, a small sink, radio/alarm clock, TV and mirror complete this very comfortable room. This is approximately 12 x 14 feet, and there is a private 2-person balcony as well.

Bedroom 2 is a smaller but airy and comfortable room (about 10 x 13 feet), with TV, 2 windows, with vertical blinds, overlooking the pool, trees and grass. Very nice.

The roomy bathroom has a 2 person whirlpool/shower combination area that is fully tiled, corner sink to maximize the open space and has a hair dryer for your convenience.

This is a great suite, and representative of all the suites at The Hilltop Inn and Suites in Fish Creek. Great place for a family, or couples traveling together too. Comfortable, clean and well maintained – all combined with a great location make this a great offering.
