The unique thing about Settlement Courtyard Inn is that it is situated on 200 acres of beautiful Door County terrain (including bluffs, ponds and forests), with hiking and mountain-biking trails and a whole lot more! Easily, this inn has the most beautiful land as part of the inn than just about any other place that we know of. The grounds are just beautiful, and guests comment about the uncommon garden (called “The Secret Garden”) in the back, which is full of colorful flowers, benches and outdoor art! Outside there are tables and chairs for lounging on a nice day, and stocked grills for cooking out – nice touch. And they have recently introduced the Lavender Spa offering massage therapy, for guests only, in a wonderful and comfortable and intimate spa. All of the rooms have been redecorated over the last several years, and everything is looking great at the inn!
When you enter, you are greeted with stovewood walls and a beamed ceiling in the common area, where a continental-plus breakfast is served. A new addition is a small bar area for adults, serving imported and domestic beer and malt beverages. A cozy stone fireplace, with candles atop the mantle, adds a very nice and warm feeling. Read a book, talk with friends, make new ones! You can see it all happening right here! Out back, there is a private, heated outdoor pool with a very cool poolside tiki bar that offers snacks, beer and soda on summer afternoons! They have a great number of special packages available too, so be sure to check out their website for more information. The RoomsWe toured samples of each kind of room offered at the inn. The standard rooms offer either one king bed with sofa sleeper, or 2 queen beds (nice to have a choice), and are complete with a kitchenette, fireplace, private bath/shower, phone, microwave and TV. We toured # 23, and found it to be a nice, clean and comfortable room with all of the above, and a trestle table and chairs. A nice wood beam mantle hung above the fireplace. Room #26, a courtyard room, had a super corner fireplace, king bed, sofa sleeper, chair rails on the walls, and nice furnishings. Very nice The two-bedroom suites we toured were #20 and #28. We found the suites to be very comfortable and roomy, and nicely decorated, bright with skylights and more.
We finally toured a whirlpool suite, #17, which had a nice view of the pool and south lawn. With quilted beddings in purple and greens, 2 beautiful side chairs, a small café table and chairs, a fireplace surround in ceramic tiles with painted accents, with microwave, refrigerator and coffeemaker – you are good to go! The two-person whirlpool is right in the room, so if you are into whirlpool suites or rooms, this one might be the thing you are looking for! Private bath, phone, TV, DVD round out this super offering!
The Settlement Courtyard Inn is open April through the beginning of November, but the Coach House (with 3 bedrooms) is open year-round. Kids are welcome here, and can explore the secret maze, and have fun in the sandbox, play horseshoes, volleyball, or explore the hiking trails. No pets at Settlement Courtyard Inn! We personally know a family who stays here every time they come to Door County and love it. This family-run inn is a delight, and we think you will enjoy the Settlement Courtyard Inn. Its many offerings, the trails on the grounds, spa, and warm hospitality will let you unwind, relax and enjoy some of the natural beauty of Door County – all right here! And please tell them that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you! |
