The Pheasant Park resort is located in wonderful Sister Bay. Sister Bay is the largest Door County community North of Sturgeon Bay. We like Sister Bay (and many other folks do too!) because it has activity year round. Some of our favorite eating places like Husby’s and The Sister Bay Bowl are open year round and there are plenty of shops open even in the winter. Try JJ’s restaurant for great Mexican food and local flair. So Sister Bay is a great spot to be!

As you come down the Sister Bay hill you will see Jungwirths Ace Hardware store on your right and just one block ahead is Mill Road, take a right and a couple of blocks ahead is Park Lane, go left and you are entering Pheasant Park! The resort is walking distance to many fine shops, eating places, town parks, marinas and local hangouts.

The Resort
Pheasant Park has a beautiful Victorian era design with covered patios and wrap around porches. The grounds are nicely kept and feature white fences carefully landscaped with gorgeous flowerbeds. As we walked into the resort, we were immediately attracted to the wonderful great room. The front desk is located straight ahead but if you’re like us you’ll want to check out the really nice lounging and relaxing room area (great room) to the right.

The room is very large and accommodating, with a very warm and inviting atmosphere. Fully carpeted, it features a “living room” arrangement on one end with three soft and comfortable love seats all placed around a larger coffee table and a beautiful fireplace. The impressive fireplace has marble tile inlay and a great oak mantel incorporated into an oak bookcase with loads of great books to read, as well as a built-in television.

The other end of this terrific room features an octagon sitting room with green wicker furniture, two larger oak tables with oak chairs and two high backed cushioned chairs with ottomans. More books and games can be found in a bookcase located next to the tables. The octagon portion of this end of the room has five double banks of windows that overlook the covered wrap-around porch that has green wicker furniture. This great room caters to your every need . . . sit and relax in front of the fireplace or enjoy your morning coffee in the octagon sitting room! Very inviting!

The indoor pool is located on the main floor next to the lobby. Close by is a larger bathroom for changing with several lockers and two standing showers, which come in handy for rinsing off after swimming in the pool. Just down from the changing room there is exercise room for guests to use and a game room for the kids.

This nice size pool is 5 feet at its deepest end, and is surrounded by plenty of lounge chairs, tables and other pool furniture for your enjoyment. The floor is completely tiled and there are three large vaulted dormers that highlight floor to ceiling pained glass windows. Of course every great pool area needs to have a Jacuzzi and you won’t be disappointed with the one at Pheasant Park. It seats 13 adults…we guessed more!…so bring the whole family!

There is also a four-person sauna and another rinsing shower for your convenience. An excellent amenity located right next to the pool is a large outdoor playground area with a large jungle gym, slide, sandpit and swings. Oh yeah, if you like to swim outdoors just walk through a doorway leading to a fantastic outdoor pool! It is completed gated with an iron wrought fence, spruce trees, flowers and other small shrubs for plenty of privacy. Great place to swim and sunbathe. If you like to grill out you can use one of the grills in the grilling area just off the pool. Great!

The Suites
Pheasant Park offers one, two and three bedroom suites. We toured several of them and found them all to be well kept, modern, clean and nicely designed and decorated.

Our First Stop: SUITE 306
A delightful three-bedroom suite perfect for families or three couples. As you walk in the kitchen is to your left. Lots of cabinet space and a nice double stainless sink inserted in an island that offers extra counter top space contribute to make the kitchen both versatile and easy to keep clean. The cabinets, as well as all the trim throughout the suite, are made of oak. Of course all the modern appliances are available for you to use including a full sized refrigerator. Ahead to the right there is a small linen/storage closet and then the guest bathroom. This is a nice size bathroom with a large mirror, vanity and tub/shower unit. When we visited, there were plenty of towels to go around and the bathroom was clean, tidy and well lit---we like that, and think you will too!

The bedrooms are very nice and we feel that everyone will appreciate the comfort and size of all of them; in other words, just because you may not have the master bedroom doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice comfort. All the bedrooms have televisions, ceiling fans, plenty of storage space, comfortable sitting chairs, nightstands and mirrors. One bedroom had a nice queen bed while the other two have king beds. Ok, we admit, the master bedroom is a little nicer, but that’s only because of the double whirlpool tub and bathroom with standing glass door shower. Again, all the bedrooms offer great use of space, comfortable beds and plenty of storage.

The Living Quarters—your home away from home.
We enjoyed the fact that this suite comes with a great dining table. It has six chairs and is plenty big for dining, playing games or for just setting your “stuff” on after a day of shopping in Sister Bay (sorry fella’s, but shopping is a must in Sister Bay – you’ll probably do some yourself!) There is a door just off the dining area that leads to a larger, carpeted deck with chairs and table and a great view of open fields, woods and orchards.

The living room is very roomy. There are two love seats, a couch and an oversized chair with an ottoman. Of course there is a fireplace with TV and VCR built in overhead. The love seats are situated in a bump out, three-sided nook that has three larger windows offering a terrific view. There are two end tables, a larger oval coffee table and plenty of sunlight shining through making this a great place to entertain or just plain relax. Overall, we loved this suite for its wonderful floor plan, its versatility and bright and fresh atmosphere.

Our Second Stop: SUITE 308
This is a two-bedroom suite with two bathrooms. It has the same great full kitchen perfect for making simple snacks, breakfast, lunch or elegant dinners. The guest bath has a convenient shower with full tub unit and is nicely appointed. All the suites we toured had very nicely decorated bathrooms with hair dryers, plenty of towels and complimentary baskets filled with shampoo, soap and lotions.

The guest bedroom has television, two nightstands, chest of drawers, ceiling fans, mirror and a nice view of the countryside. It also has a door that leads directly into the guest bath—nice design. The master bedroom has the same great design as Suite 306 with double whirlpool tub, king bed and, like the guest bedroom, has a terrific view.
In the living room there is a pull out sleeper sofa, two nice chairs, coffee table, fireplace, TV and VCR. A large bay window, flanked by two smaller windows, allows for plenty of natural light to come in. There is direct access to a covered deck from the living room.

The Resort at Pheasant Park promises excellent amenities, comfortable floor plans and the rooms are very well kept, bright, fresh and airy. There are even some ADA suites available too! The amenities are almost endless: Indoors has a pool, whirlpool, sauna, ping-pong, arcade and fitness center! And then there’s the outdoor pool, and adjacent play area, tennis, basketball and volleyball! How about an independent baby sitting service! Ask them!

If you like to be in a town that is always moving, has great restaurants, offers super shopping choices and just minutes from all that Door County has to offer, give Pheasant Park a call or visit them now at www.PheasantParkResort.com – please tell them you found them on DoorCountyNavigator.com!

We are excited about this find, and we think you will be too!
