Winter Hours
Nov. - April: Tues - Thurs. 5pm - 9pm; Fri. - Sat. 11am - 10pm
One of the few places to get a great burger (see also Bayside Tavern). You can lunch for about $8 - $10 per person and eat pretty well. The ri
bs were delicious – nice big rack of ribs with a zesty sauce that leaves you wanting more! The steak was very good too. Nice quick service, friendly staff, nice bar, and you can get Mexican or American on either side of the restaurant. And from what I hear, this is the place for Mexican. We have eaten in a couple of other "Mexican" places in Door County that were not that great. Lots of locals go here regularly, so that’s a good sign, and our experience backs that up. We love it here and feel comfortable and at ease. And if you get a chance to speak with JJ, do so - he has a ton of interesting stories!
For dinner, the ribs were tender, flavorful with a zesty sauce, and the New York strip was perfectly done. You can have dinner for about $10 - $20 per person, depending on what you want. Sandwiches, fish, meat, buffalo wings - all kinds of comfor food! And we lov ethe bar - lots of locals and visitors alike enjoy spending time at the bar.
It looks like a place you would pass up, because it is off the beaten path – not smack dab in the middle of town, or a whole bunch of other restaurants – it is right near the marina, and rather isolated, even though it is on the main Hwy 42. Lots of neon in the windows hawking the beers that are available – so if you look for neon (not an often seen thing in the County) you will find JJs and La Puerta!
So take a stop for lunch or dinner, we think you will enjoy it.
In 2009, JJs added another restaurant to their offerings, JJ's of Jacksonport. Fundamentally the same menu as JJ's in Sister Bay, but in another very cool location and very comfortable and fun atmosphere.
So stop in any of their restaurants (we like them all!) and tell them, please, that DoorCountyNavigator.com sent you - that helps keep this site alive & well for you! Thanks!
